Bald is Beautiful????

I'm not so sure bald is beautiful, but I'm now officially bald! Well, I actually look like a new recruit for the military! All of the stubble will fall out soon, then I'll be really bald! My sweet husband Todd insisted on shaving his head along with me, and he really shaved it - smooth! He is amazing - I love him so much!

I tried my wig on and laughed out loud - it looked so fake at first, but I played around with the bangs and curls and finally got it to look okay and I know that I will get used to it - just like if I got a new haircut - I'd have to get used to it!

Tonight at the dinner table, before we commenced the head-shaving, I was complaining about how annoying it was to have clumps of hair pulling out and having hair all over me. So Paige pipes up and says, "but if we were in the store and I couldn't find you, I'd be able to just follow the clumps of hair on the floor to find you!" We all busted up laughing! I love my girls so much!

Ta-ta for now!

  1. Linda,

I bet you look beautiful!!!!! Praying for you

  2. Hair is like icing on cake. If the cake is yucky, it doesn't matter how pretty the icing is, it's still all yucky. But if the cake itself is well made, it doesn't really need icing. You are very beautifully made & hair or no hair doesn't change that.

Demi Moore shaved her head for a movie years ago & she was still very pretty. I just know that you make bald look cute too.

  3. I am so proud of you both for sharing this experience together. Laughter is the best medicine for the soul! I love that your family has plenty of laughter! God knew you were going to need it one day! Or maybe many days!? My 2 Granddaughters are so cute and special to us all. God has you in the palm of His hand! Keep holding on! Love you with all my heart! Mom D. ^j^ Papa too!

  4. Paige's comment is awesome! Like everyone else said... beautiful before!!! ... beautiful after!!!

  5. I'm sure your wig looks gorgeous, dahling! :)

That is such an awesome comment. Kids are amazing, aren't they?!

    Love you. xoxo

  6. so glad you have such a sweet family to hold you, laugh with you and BE there with through this time. The really beautiful things are coming out in all of you.

  7. Linda-good job on the hair! My MIL did the same, and now it's growing in short and curly and looks so great. You might want to get yourself a couple of soft scarves and some knit hats--the wig can get really itchy as the weather gets warmer or if your scalp gets sensitive from the chemo. You can always wear a scarf under a normal hat, which keeps it on more easily. If you know someone who knits, ask for a really soft hat, a bit longer than normal, and it will be comfortable but still make you feel covered and more normal than a scarf. Let me know if you can't find someone to make a hat, I have a friend who does. And you can always add a curly hem and a flower--it's amazing how little things can help you still feel feminine.
Also, go to a makeup counter or a good friend and get some help learning how to draw on your brows. I know for the women in my family, that was almost harder than losing the head hair, so plan for it and you can make them look very real.
Love you and praying for you!

  8. :-) What a sweet family you have! Bald is beautiful, just ask Jeremy! Love you SO much!
